Ian, I tried to eat the chilli (no rice) with little spoonfuls but Jackie the pouch didn't like it much. So I whizzed it with the blender and although it looked like **** it tasted lovely. I could eat about 3 tablespoons and it tasted nice.

Hey!

I hope you don't mind me jumping in this post as I am now on 'soft' foods at just short of 4 weeks post-op!

1800 1/2 small tin beans with 2 sausages, 1/2 baby bell, 1 potato smile

I have just ordered some protein powder so my protein intake should be on the rise as soon as it makes it here!

Hi, can someone tell me if this is too much: not too much, you are okay with quantity

Breakfast - 2 tbsp branflakes with s/s milk
carb heavy but okay because complex carb
Lunch - 1 small piece (milk loaf) of bread and small (200g) tin of baked beans
very carby, bread is 95% sugar, beans are about 50% sugar
Dinner - 2 mini spring rolls and some pieces of chicken
spring rolls = carbs + fat
Snack - 1 hob nob biscuit
100% carb

I know that it's probably not enough protein but I'm getting a bit concerned at how much I can eat. Is it too much - 7 weeks post op - and how many calories should I be aiming for? This cold weather is making me crave toast and biscuits...

This is just my advice to you hun from looking at your menu, but as always check with your own team if in doubt or if you are concerned. In my opinion your volume is fine no worries but you are really filling up on carbs which will make it hard for you to fit the protein in. You had lunch which was made mostly of simple carbs, why not try tuna mayo & slice of bread or beans & salad, or perhaps a crustless quiche slice and a piece of fruit? For dinner you could have had a serving of veg with your chicken instead of spring rolls. As for your snack, they should always be fruit, veg or protein based at your stage, you went for a 100% carb snack which gives you zero nutrition but added calories. If you feel like you need a snack at your stage, eat some nuts, a yogurt, a protein shake, heck make some protein cake if you want something sweet but don't waste pouch room on useless food in the early days. When you get further out and eat a wide variety of foods and a higher volume of food the carby pattern you have now may slow weight loss which you want to avoid.

HTH,
Nic;)

Reading that back it looks quite a lot of food even though they are small amounts, is it too much? These three days are typical of what I have eaten over the past week and the weight has stalled (I've blamed hormones) although the scales have finally budged again this morn. Should I change anything? Or eat less?? Any advice gratefully received xx

Volume is good hun, no problems there. Your protein sounds good as well, good job! Only thing I would say is curb your carbs a little looks like you are having 3-4 servings a day which is a bit too much. Try going to 2 servings a day. Other than that you are doing great, don't worry about stalls early days, you obviously have your head around eating sometimes the body just fights weight loss, keep up your good nutrition and your weight will start shifting again.

Thank you PG, great advice as always, will look into my carbs and try to ensure they are kept to a minimum. Pleased you don't think the volume is too high though as I was a bit unsure.
