Friday 22nd January

640 Kcal

0900 1 small slice of Seeded Toast with Peanut Butter [100]

1300 King Prawn Stir Fry -(6 King Prawns [20], Mixed Veg [20], 20g Rice Noodles [80], Sauce [20]) - [[140]]

1900 Annual Chinese Buffet with Family (mixture of different meats in different sauces) - [Guestimate: 400]

~ This was the big annual family night out meal (there were 10 of us). I felt I overdid it as I found it very hard to concentrate on when or how full I felt with all the distractions going on around me. In such a loud and interactive environment I found it really hard to listen to what my body was telling me and when it was telling me to stop. Plus all the chewing and chewing kinda took me out of the majority of the conversations! I got a bowl of soup and made it look like I was eating along with everyone else - had about 1tbsp of it. Then I went back up 3 times to get a small postion (2 peices of meat in sauce) on a side plate. Everyone went back up three or four times to pile their plates full, which is why I made sure I went back up a few times - I didnt want to look or feel different. However, this carefully thoughtout plan didn't really work as I couldnt accuratly gage how much I had had and contributed to the overeating! By the end of the evening I was feeling a lot of protest in my pouch that I have never felt before. I wasn't sick, and didn't even feel sick; but I know that I have never eaten to that amount of restriction and don't ever intend to do it again... Good thing we only go once a year!~

Interesting, my dietician told me not to eat bread as it just turns into a dough in the pouch, and also to stay away from actimel, as they are full of sugar??

Interesting - I have them most days and dont find any dumping at all and I have had them since being newly post op...

Bread - Some people can have bread and cope with it fine, some cant! I dont eat it often, 2 - 3 slices a week at the most but im now 8 months post op and can have anything without any issue (as long as not sugary of course) I wouldnt recommend it for new post oppers but gradually building it in over time will help with a balance diet as its a good source of carbs and fibre :)

Rkimmage, Bread is a tricky one. Some people can have it, other really struggle with it.

Personally, I have introduced bread slowly in the form of toast ever since I started on 'normal' solids at 4 weeks. Its only been in the past few days that I have eaten it without it being toasted. Still no problems eating it, but I only ever eat 1 small slice of wholemeal bread.
