November 2014 Surgeries

hi everyone

Two weeks post surgery tomorrow and can't believe how great I feel. I went back to work last week from home and went to an international conference in London for the weekend. Peoples faces were amazing the men made me laugh, I had my hair done and bothered with great make up - they just stopped in their tracks and starred, then looked sheepish and then muttered about my hair it was hysterical.

Food wise it was fantastic i ate so much less and couldn't eat all the rich fattening food it made me feel great. Apart from a runny tummy and the odd ache u a rocking. on to puree tomorrow.

k

Hello everyone. I am still here. I do log in everyday to see how everyone is doing. Congratulations to all who have been done and good luck to those about to be:D.

I have been finding doing the pre op hard as I have been on a reduced intake since the end of July when my original surgery was scheduled for the 3 September. In some respects since my op was rescheduled things have gone quickly but I have been trying to sort out so many things since my dad died. I really haven't thought too much about the op itself. I have bought some new night clothes and slippers for the op and that is about it. I will sort out and get the other things I need over the weekend.

I have, however, in the last few days, been thinking about the future. When I went to see the surgeon in October we had a very frank discussion about things. He admitted there was a chance he would not be able to do anything once the band was removed. I thought he was going to confess what had happened when they did my original op 4 years ago but he stopped himself mid sentence. So I have been thinking about the prospect of having the band out and that being the end of the road in terms of wls for me. I know I need to get this weight off so it is going to be about what I do to achieve that. It will have to be something like SW or WW and getting into an exercise regime, once my foot has healed more. What it will require is a complete life style change in much the same way as is required if you have wls but without the tool to help. I am trying to convince myself it can be done. I have to, or face the prospect of a very short life if I do not.

He did say that if he could do it, he would take out the band and then do the sleeve. The alternative to nothing at all apart from band removal is depending what they find when the go in is to try to do the sleeve in about 6 months - so it would be getting into the lifestyle change and try to keep off what I have lost since I started the pre op at the end of July. Tall order as my life is in chaos at so many levels at the moment. It is perhaps why I have been burying my head in the sand about this. At least this time when I wake up what they tell me has happened will not come as a huge shock, like last time.

I hope I have not depressed anyone by this. Just wanted to let it out.

TBx

Good luck willow! Speedy recovery!!

And Xenia glad your doing ok :)

And OMG I'm so jealous of your eating haha!! Su2ie. I can't wait for puree stage I really am counting it down :( it's the taste the slim fasts are not doing it for me anymore! :(

Hope everyone's doing ok!!! Xx

I get why you'd want to move on to puree, I guess we all want to hurry along the stages :) I've been on puree just over 2 weeks and getting a bit bored, just wanting a bit more variety and textures. All in good time eh?

Having a serious case of head hunger at the moment and craving a dominos pizza!!!! Not an option though so need to find some distraction!

In a lot of pain today, I thought I was good at handling pain but clearly I'm not, feel very miserable, sounds ungrateful but feeling so rough.

Oh dear Xenia love . Everybody pain thresh holds are so different. Your not being ungrateful its how things are . Thats why this forum us great to release all those little tensions. Rest up and relax small sips too. Hope you feel better as time goes on. X

Tranquil butterfly im sorry for things that are happening. Only you can decide whats best. However can I say don't give up no matter how hard it is! Things will be what there suppose to be . I hope things work out. God bless x

Thanks everyone, I know how lucky I have been, started puree today - decided to go with baby food as I can't be bothered to puree, did that for enough years with my kids.

Xenia, ouch on the pain, keep your chin up it will get better.

I Mac i have had to change how I drink and I rarely manage more than 100 mls in one go, unless its water in which case I can drink normally.

Tranquil butterfly what a tough time you are having good luck with the op.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys and gals :)

Xenia the pain does ease - try not to do too much too soon, but I feel your pain as I'm struggling today...first day back at work yesterday and I think I've come back too soon but I'm enjoying the company and just doing what I can :) sitting eating my homemade soup from a recipe I found on here and although I'm dying to go onto puree (from Friday) I'm getting gurgles from a slightly thicker soup so wondering if I can manage it or not...feeling a bit rough today though :(
IMac - where is the Alex? I was at the Spire but no one else on my ward had prof amoori as their consultant :( but congrats as well - hope you are doing well and MrsG74 as well :)

Can you not give them a call rather than waiting for a response to a text? Might get you a quicker response hopefully...either way I hope you get it sorted as it sounds as though you might need even more restriction, but I don't know anything about bands :(
