November 2014 Surgeries

I'm glad you've found some comfort on that :) it helps stop the worrying...I'm struggling at work to be honest but just had some soup so hoping I'll pick up a bit now... x

weeb what op did u have? I had my band 10days ago and I have no restriction and am struggling to keep my portion size down? x

Hi Jib

I had a sleeve gastrectomy. No problem with portion control, i am having to earn to take small portions slowly.

:)

In a lot of pain today, I thought I was good at handling pain but clearly I'm not, feel very miserable, sounds ungrateful but feeling so rough.

I'm in a lot of pain too Xenia so you're not alone. In fact I'm in a&e right now waiting to see the surgical registrar to get it checked out as I seem to be going backwards rather than forwards. Hope you start feeling better soon xx

Oh blimey, I'm sorry to read this I hope you can get it sorted, let me know how you get on. I can't seem to shift this wind. And because of the pain I'm not hungry. Just spoken to the bariatric nurse and she told me to up the Tramadol, so I'll see how this helps. All the best xx

ow no I hope ur both ok and the docs get u sorted. with me the wind was bad for a week then it just disappeared. get well soon x

ye the wind to me felt like someone was standing on my chest and I cudnt eat and barely drink.but pain killers didnt work coz it wasnt pain pain it was wind pain. try do a little walking to help get it moving and a warm shower helped me aswel. it does get better though I promise x

I'd agree walking or at least standing up to let it dissipate helps but I definitely associate with the standing on your chest pain for the wind! Hope it gets better x

Pippa - I hope you are ok and everything is ok and its just a lot of pain you are experiencing...sending you good wishes xx

Omg the wind. There were two occasions where I almost called an ambulance I was in so much pain!!! And at one point I even thought omg this is it. I'm actually going to die.

Get some windease tablets! They really do help. And a hot water bottle. I'm 6 days post op and honestly it does go!!!

Xxxx

Funny you should say that I have thought I that I'm going to die, just talking to the nurse made me feel better, and reading that several of you have had the same experience. Yes I pinched your idea of the hot water bottle and it's comforting. Thanks for your support xx

I really feel for you all struggling with wind pain, it really is awful. Thankfully I didn't have too much trouble with it, but if chest pain about 2or 3 days post op but nothing too severe. I had more pain from my stomach and incisions.

Hope you all feel better soon x

That's ok! It is reassuring the heat you aren't alone. I didn't post quite how I felt as I didn't want to worry anyone or to make myself sound daft (as I thought I was the only one!)

But I promise it does get better!! I'm back to normal now :) xx

Hi everyone! Gosh a lots been going on since I've been away!! Have had a tough time with pain etc so my heart goes out to everyone feeling the same.

Hope things are ok pippa. A&E doesn't sound good.

Today was my first day where I've been able to sit out of bed more than 30 mins once a day. And of course overdid it. But hey, we're human.

Had all sorts of probs with the hospital. One overzealous nurse virtually frog marched me out of the place on Friday. Way before I was ready. Before they'd established what pain killers I could actually keep down. Virtually none. And with instructions about how to proceed over the next few days that were not just contrary to post WLS advice but downright dangerous. Was very very p'd off. Still am.

But I am now finally starting to feel better. And the sleeve is definitely working! Nothing but fluids. Now finally going down easily - was frightened to drink at first as it was painful. And the weight is dropping off! Woo hoo. 8lbs in a week.
