November 2014 Surgeries

I'm in a lot of pain too Xenia so you're not alone. In fact I'm in a&e right now waiting to see the surgical registrar to get it checked out as I seem to be going backwards rather than forwards. Hope you start feeling better soon xx

How did you get on in a&e? Hope they got you sorted, it's pretty miserable when you're in pain and feeling like you're not making progress.

Hope you start feeling better soon x

I wish! I've come home in the same state i went in after 10 hours in a&e. I took my own discharge in the end because no doctor would come and see me. And I never saw a single member of the bariatric team. I feel so let down.

poor you. A&E departments are totally overfull at the moment so I wouldn't be surprised if thats why. Look after yourself, perhaps pop and see your GP they will be able to help you maybe! hope you feel better today

Pippa that's terrible, I think Su2ie is correct go to your GP. It's piece of mind that you need as well xxx

.
Please don't suffer you need some rest cant you get yourself a sick note for a couple if weeks? X

I actually perked up quite a lot after having some soup and feeling much much better today...I do feel very tired by the end of the day though but I had that before and I think it's just related to stress from the job :sigh:

Pippa - yes I'd suggest trying to get in to see your GP, A&E is horribly understaffed and overworked from the stories I hear (two of my friends are A&E consultants at different hospitals and both are way overworked!!) Either way, I hope you get it sorted out :)

Maggy - hope you are feeling a bit better and yes they should have known better!! WLS is not a simple operation, its a major operation and you shouldn't have been ushered out like that...is there any way you can put a complaint or at least air your opinions to the hospital? PALS might be able to help with that...

Mizkirsty - hope the weigh in goes well today :) sure you've done brilliantly - I do mine (at home) tomorrow so hoping I've lost again although probably no where near as drastic as my first week post op...

Thanks everyone! Thankfully I had a much better night's sleep and even woke up on my side for the first time so I think things may be improving. Fingers crossed!

I weighed in today! -6.25lbs first week post op!

That's 1st 1/2lb including preop (12days!)

That's a great start. I'm happy.

I actually feel brilliant physically today as in no wind aches or pains :)

Let's keep going :)

Hope everyone is feeling alright today and has better days! Xx

Wooo you poor old things - I feel somewhat of a party pooper as I struggled for a couple of days with pain in my stomach and shoulders but it soon passed and I returned to work on Monday feeling very tired but physically very well.
My biggest problem was I found my emotions rocked from highs to lows , which for me is very unusual and I found myself in floods of tears or really ratty without cause but I'm glad to say almost 2 weeks post surgery and I'm feeling back to my usual grumpy self !!!!

That is an amazing weight loss ! I'm glad you (Mizkirsty) are feeling much better
Love to all who are recovering – keep sipping those fluids !
Vixter101 - I had my sleeve surgery done by Prof Ammori at the BMI hospital The Alexandra, known locally as the Alex. I actually went directly to Prof Ammori and had the choice of hospital (Spire or Alex) but I opted for the Alex.
And to those still patiently waiting good luck with the last few days of LRD.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys and gals :) Xenia the pain does ease - try not to do too much too soon, but I feel your pain as I'm struggling today...first day back at work yesterday and I think I've come back too soon but I'm enjoying the company and just doing what I can :) sitting eating my homemade soup from a recipe I found on here and although I'm dying to go onto puree (from Friday) I'm getting gurgles from a slightly thicker soup so wondering if I can manage it or not...feeling a bit rough today though :( IMac - where is the Alex? I was at the Spire but no one else on my ward had prof amoori as their consultant :( but congrats as well - hope you are doing well and MrsG74 as well :)
Hi Vixter where did you have your surgery and also where about are you from if you don't mind me asking. Hope your doing well . Did try to send you a private message.

Hi Sharona,

I'm from Sutton Coldfield near Birmingham - just spotted on your profile bio down the side that you are west midlands...where abouts?? I went through Healthier Weight for the surgery and as I had the sleeve I went up to Spire Manchester for the operation - not far from Old Trafford (I was offered Manchester or Southampton for the sleeve as both are centres of excellence).

I might not be able to accept PM's at the moment as I've not reached 50 posts yet so that could be why...

So tomorrow, being Saturday, is my usual weighing day (when I'm not obsessing and weighing everyday!) so I thought I'd share it with you and see if anyone else wanted to join in. We're all either post-op or on LSD so perhaps it's a good time?

So, first official weigh-in for me tomorrow :0)

Haha I still get on everyday! Don't obsess on the numbers so much anymore. But I still step on but only record or take note once a week. Which is now a thur for me as that's when I had my op! :) xx

Well done to everyone who has come out the other side of theatres this week! Cannot believe 2 weeks ago today I was pacing my hospital room. - Iwmac I think we had literally just signed the consent forms!!!!! Post op is a strange time it's your life but not as you know it! Rest is key, I have found! First day of purée for me today, a Welcomed phase
Not many left now and the very first steps of this journey will be behind us. I wonder how we will all feel on Christmas Day? Lighter for sure! ....Keep up the good work on the LSD it will be worth it!

Oh this wind is so painful, sitting with hot water bottle at front, wheat bag on back. It's agony, tried peppermint tea, gripe water, windeze, warm bath, no sugar polos, walking about. I think I might explode, oh imagine the relief! Day five after op and still moaning:-( x
