November 2014 Surgeries

Oh this wind is so painful, sitting with hot water bottle at front, wheat bag on back. It's agony, tried peppermint tea, gripe water, windeze, warm bath, no sugar polos, walking about. I think I might explode, oh imagine the relief! Day five after op and still moaning:-( x
Xenia have you tried lying on your left hand side? Peppermint cordial ? I had the dreaded stitch pain but it came and went and although sharp was mainly manageable and from some of the stories on this forum I think I got off lightly. I would say though it was a good week before it did go! Hope you get some relief

Xenia I understand. It's horrible. But sounds like you've tried everything I suggested. Hot water bottle windease paracetamol and mobilising :(

Hope it eases soon! Once it does it great!!! :) xx

Hi Sharona!
just checking in to see how your doing? your wls cant be too far away now you ready for it? bag packed? house tidy ? I think its in the new few days isn't it ?
let me know

Thanks everyone regarding the wind situation :) any other suggestions I'll try them all! Just when you get a little relief...wham it creeps right back.

Hope everyone else is okay, I've been reading through some posts and notice the weight is shifting. Well done, I'm not getting on the scales until Monday when I go back to the hospital, so I'll update you all then xx

Hope the wind eases soon Xenia - I agree it isn't pleasant at all...I'm struggling today, in fact I may ask to leave work shortly...does anyone have remedies or medication they can advise for constitipation? This is a bit gross, but I've just spent 10-15 minutes in the bathroom at work because I desperately need to go but I can't :( I was almost in tears but don't want to get the normal laxatives suggested in case they aren't right soo soon after surgery...

Vixter, I use Lactulose, it's a syrup, very sweet, but does work, in fact at one point it was a bit too keen, so only take 15ml a day now x

Thanks - one of my good friends is a doctor in a&e so I also picked her brains and she suggested that as well - I'll be going to the chemist tonight then!!

Vixter my nurses advised to drink more fluid in the case of constipation rather than taking anything in the first instance. I'm struggling a little on the same front as you but I know I could do better fluid wise!

Oh I took an over the counter laxative docolax I think it's called! After once being constipated for over a week on the cambridge diet I have no desire to go through that again. I allow 4 days before I pop a pill now! Xx

Morning all. It has suddenly gone very quiet on here. Sharona where are you? Are you ok? Well it looks like I am next up. I have very mixed feelings about things as I expressed earlier. I am sure when I get to Tuesday night the enormity will hit me. I really need to sort myself out in terms of packing a bag for the hospital. I took far too much with me when I had my first surgery four years ago, so I will take the bare minimum this time.

I hope everyone is coping both pre and post op.

TBx

No problem with moaning:D. It is good to share your experiences whatever they are. You never know who you may be helping by saying what you are feeling. Hope all is well with you today.

So tomorrow, being Saturday, is my usual weighing day (when I'm not obsessing and weighing everyday!) so I thought I'd share it with you and see if anyone else wanted to join in. We're all either post-op or on LSD so perhaps it's a good time? So, first official weigh-in for me tomorrow :0)

So I'm now 3 weeks post op and I've lost another 3lb. That makes 16lb lost post op and 42lb total loss. :)

Hi tb, I've been the same as Jess, op wind has hit me harder than I thought plus anaesthetic makes my grizzly. But today, I'm feeling 90% better! Glad this forum is here though, has certainly helped me. Strangely I was excited and slightly scared before op, but this is only normal. First few days after op are tough, but does help to stay in contact on here for support. All the best for your op xx

Su2ie well done that's fab!! Xx

I'm the same as Jess I don't wanna come on and be all moany all the time. I feel physically back to my normal self. Even thoughts of gym swimming bike ride or spinning have been swimming around in my head! Itching to get back to exercising!

But I am struggling with the liquid only diet. I'm at the point now where slim fast makes me gag!

So tbh I have moved on to some mushy now on day 8 (now 9!) otherwise I'm not taking in any cals! Plus my hunger has begun to return.

I'm cal watching and I've not managed more than 700 cals.

But I did eat a Miller rice next time. And in future think I'd keep half in the fridge a whole one is prob too much!

But everyone who's a bit further along than me ....

Mushy food. Mushy before you swallow or mushy before you bite?

Can I chew until it's all mushy or should I mash it all first? Xx

To be honest I'm more excited by the fact I've only got 1 more week to go on puree!!!! Can't wait to start introducing a bit more solid food :)
