And so it begins...Kirsty's journey to a sleeve!!

Same here. Also ... If he does nothing about it what would happen in the long term?

Am I right in assuming you're having to pay for a further surgery now?

Iv jus done a little research an refux is more common with the sleeve and hardly happens with the bypass so that would explain the conversion. It made me doubt going for the sleeve but after researching again im reassured that im going for the sleeve.
Off to sleep now nervous for tomorrow will let u all know how it goes. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

No I am an NHS patient. Apparently bypass patients don't get reflux. He was very reassuring, he said he will definitely do something for me if it doesn't go by itself.

Well first of all i lost 2lb this week which is 13lb in total jus 1lb off tareget but im happy with that.

So today i saw Dr kendrick the psychiatrist at walsall manor. He was lovely dont know why i was so worried. As soon as i sat down he said straight away he didnt see any reason why i shouldnt have surgey and her was very impressed with my weight loss. He didnt ask me any questions at all about how i got to b over weight how i will cope after he jus talked about a packet of crisps haha. Said that 1 treat every day adds up to about 75000 extra calories a year which would mean id gain about 1and a half stone a year. Think jus explaing that small thing often add up to massive problems and that i have to do things right to make this work. He said i sees no reason i wouldnt b successful and wrote that i need to see surgeon asap. Appointment with surgeon is jan 7th so 6 weeks an 6 days that will soon fly by. He has said he will see me in 12 months time and to expect surgery about march time which is great. Iv jus gotta maintain my weight or lose more ready for when see surgeon. Means being careful over xmas but it will b worth it and im no longer on the milk diet thank god gna swap to a low cal diet and use slimming world cooking styles and receipes.

Im over the moon with today outcome it couldnt of gone any better. Thanks for everyone who supports me i could do it without this amazing site and the amazing friends iv made through it.

That's great news Kirsty..!

No one could question you're commitment. You've done amazingly well following the diet. Won't be long and your backside will take up its position on the bench :) x

Thanks for your lovely comments ladies its such a relief that today went well and iv already got my next appointment date to look forward to and its jus under 7 weeks away which isnt long at all. Im gna focus on being healthy and try lose another 7lb by xmas that will give me a little room to enjoy xmas and hopefully not b above my target weight. The more i lose the better but im not gna go mad at xmas on food an drink as its not worth risking the surgery for. Really excited for next appointment and its the last step to surgery all thats next will b pre op and lsd. I xant believe that in about 4 months time i will on that losers bench its jus amazing and im so grateful to be given this oppertunity.

Pleased your appointment went well, I have been quietly following your last few weeks and know what it meant for you.

Now you can use the time to your advantage by getting prepared and get into some of the right routines and habits that will help postop.

Try to start carrying a water bottle and get used to drinking little and often.
Get into the routine of eating 3 meals a day as you cant skip after surgery.
Get your schedule organised so you have some exercise time set aside on a regular basis.

You have done so well so far, and wishing you all the best for your future sleeve

Well tomorrow is my appointment at walsall manor with the psychiatrist. Im hoping he give me the go ahead and sees that im prepared and commited to the surgery and life post op. Iv changed my lifestyle done a 2 weeks pracrice milk diet and fingers crossed hit my weight loss target. I dont know what more i could of done to prepare myself for the journey ahead of me so iv jus gotta hope he is happy with me. If i isn't and wants to see me again that will add months onto my journey and i will b gutted. I cant see a reason for him not to pass me off but at the same time im telling myself it might not go well. Think is cuz im scared and its my way of preparing myself for failing. I need to have more faith in myself. Any last minute advice from u guys would b great especially from people who have actually seen mr kendrick at walsall manor. Kirsty xx
been following you . I begin my outskirts milk diet on Monday no then two was introducing food back in. I am so excited, but worried I so want this op. Good luck and keep strong x

Ah thanks stuart, i already made some of the changes u suggested and iv bought myself a water infuser bottle which i try take every where with me and sip sip sip. I always skipped lunch before but im doing the 3 meals a day. The one thing i need to add tho is more exercise i find it really difficult as jus going about my normal daily activities is so painful. I think swimming would b good as it takes pressure of joints but im not confident enough for that atm. Jus trying to increase walking but im losing weight so its all working together i suppose. The extra time like u say will jus help me prepare better.

Hey mo tell me a bit about your journey, what stage your at, where your having op, are u nhs or private and what procedure have u chosen xx

Well iv spent the weekend getting to know food agen after the milk diet. Not made the healthiest of choice but i definatley cant manage big portions. And iv stopped when im full. Gna av a peek at the scales in morning to assess the damage and back onto a health diet with small portions, 3 meals a day an plenty of water.

Little update hospital informed me that my appointment in jan with surgeon was for wrong clinic so my new appointment date is the 30th december so looks like a healthy xmas dinner for me. So only 5 weeks and 2 days away. I cant wait.

Great news Kirsty..!

If anyone has worked hard for it, you have..

Do you think that if you're seeing the surgeon you'll get a date..? So exciting..!

Not long for you Lin..! Is it Monday..?

:)

Xx

Thanks ladies

Claire as far as i know i should just be signing consent forms with the surgeon. I then will see the anesatist and have pre op tests. Im not sure when i get put on list i presume it would b once iv consented. Time will tell i suppose.

Nervous to see how i weigh in on friday im definatley expecting a gain as iv gone from just milk and yogurt back to normal food. Ib tried to eat healthy and keep portion sizes small but i have had a few treats. Think i earned them tho after 2 weeks on milk diet. Id like to lose about half a stone over the next few weeks as my appointment is 5 weeks away.

Hope everyone is well...

Kirsty xx
