alisoomy71 said:Hi I am not on my pre-op diet yet and don't have a date but have been told it could be in 4months.
I am very naive when it comes to nutrition I have no idea what's good for me or bad for me.
I have trouble with food as I don't eat fish of any kind I only eat peas and runner beans, lettuce cucumber
Spring onions red onion carrots raw never cooked chicken pork beef mince I like pasta but was told I couldn't eat that,
I also like potatoes I love mash but once again was told not to eat that.
So as you can see I am slightly worried that there wont be enough choice out their for me. I don't care as I will find something to eat even if I have to live off of sf jelly fruit and salad all my life as long as it's enough to keep me alive.
But I wanted to know if there were any books out there for food nutrients for those that have had surgery and if not why haven't one of you written one........lol
Oh I do like oxo cubes to drink always have.
My pre-op sheet say's :
clear soups (stock cubes, stock powder, home made stock)
Sugar free jelly
Clear Fluids tea coffee with milk but NO sugar
Bovril or consommé
A portion of steamed grilled or baked not FRIED fish or chicken for evening meal with green veg or green salad only.
If your vegetarian you may have eggs for your evening meal with green veg or salad .
NO bread or bread products NO pasta potatoes or rice. DO NOT EAT CHOCOLATE OR SWEETS AND DO NOT CHEAT!
Three portions of fruit a day ONLY
You may season your food or add garlic onion or herbs and spices
Drink plenty of water. Sugar free squash is allowed.
IF IT'S NOT ON THE LIST DON'T EAT IT!
All good but what is consommé when they say baked. Chicken is that roasted, can you still have salad cream or mayonnaise if it's low fat?
And people have said they eat cracker bread and Melba toast while on the pre-op diet.
It's so confusing. I need someone to tell me what's good food and what's bad food I have tried looking for a healthy eating nutrition book but I get con fussed with it all. What should I look for on the packs of food when shopping the calories or the fat if the fat which fat oh gosh see what I mean.....
Please help?...
