The menus do sound great!! The menu posting had died down a bit though, are people not posting menu's anymore?

I have to say Chrissa i really struggle with carbs, rice, pasta and white bread is A NO GO!! I don't touch any of it, wholemeal bread is a bit better but i can only have a 400g loaf and i only have one slice and don't always manage it all. Carbs are funny things post lool

First things first ceecie, let go of the guilt. One day is not going to ruin all the hard work you have put in. It's the new year, you had one cheeky day...and now it's a new day. Write a plan of what you're going to eat and eat it. Make up NSA squash in a sports bottle or a evian type bottle and sip it through the day. You don't have to have a shake every day - I only have it when I want it. As much as possible get your protein from food sources.

Does the protein rich diet matter as much for banders?

Yes and no. You don't have the malabsorption of protein so you don't need as large quantities of the stuff. But protein will stop you losing lean muscle mass and encourage fat loss instead. It will keep you fuller for longer. And from all the stuff I've read protein is one of the most band friendly foods out there.

I never really post mine because I don't feel the need. But I stay in touch. It's funny how different we all are. I need my carbs for fullness and am just generally better at losing weight when they are a part of my meal and I can eat anything.

Good to hear that Carbs seem to sit better with you, were all very different in our eating habits but i have never got on with carbs from day dot, being italian as well it becomes a bit of a nightmare.

I don't really feel the need to lost either but i like to read peoples because it gives me ideas etc, so because i like it i feel i should post mine also... Hehe. Each to our own though. Its great to hear you still pop in and give advice to people who are not very far along there weight loss journey .

I suppose because I write it all down anyway in my diary it makes no difference :) But I do see you're point that its about sharing ideas.

Haven't really posted over the xmas period as its all been the wrong things, lol. Im not ashamed, just its out of the ordinary. So will proberbly post more as I break back into my regular diet.

I have a highly active job, and find that I need a reasonable amount of carbs to give me energy. My dietician told me I needed carbs to fuel my brain, and not to rely to much on protien, as it wouldn't do its job unless I consumed carbs alongside it. Its all about a balanced diet after all.
I try to stay below 110g carbs a day whilst keeping my prots over 90g. I like to have lot of dairy in my diet, so get a lot of carbs from that.

I've done mine a few times but not too sure if I'm eating correctly or not, as its very early days for me but I'm trying my best :)

Mine is an exercise resolution SMART targets and all that... So 20 minutes exercise 3 times per week. I've lost 3s1 in 2 months since I had my band. I've stalled a bit over Xmas, not put any on but as I've not gone over my cals for a single day on My Fitness Pal, I was planning to have lost some bit heyho the mysteries of our bodies eh! I've also noticed I can eat a bit more lately ( I'm a bander sorry). But I go for fill number 2 on 9th January!

Everyone is different, as long as you are listening to your body. Eating slowly and not pushing against your restriction, at your stage you can't go far wrong. I Don't think its too much, some people (like me), have larger capacities than others.

Ladies can you give me some advice regarding fruit please? I'd love a strawberry/grape/mango!! When can I start trying? I'm 5.5 weeks post op.

.

I'd wait till you feel comfortable with solid food, then introduce the less sugary fruits first. I was having raspberries, strawberries and grapes with Greek yogurt from about 10 weeks post op.

I used to make summer berry fruit smoothies on purée stage with soya pouring yogurt. That may be a good place to start.

I still struggle with bananas but mango is no problem. Hope this has helped a bit :)

As a rule berries have the lowest sugar content of all fruit, so strawberries are a pretty good choice. You're on softs now? I know I had frozen mixed berries once I was on soft stage.
