Does this help ladies in the early days my menu was made up of:-

6 portions of protein- milk, 1egg, 25g lean meat, tuna, fish (1 portion)
2/3 carbs- mashed potato, inside of jacket spud, cracker bread, further out brown hi bran or seeded etc for extra roughage, further out pasta n rice think that was a 30g cooked portion.
4 fruit n veg - about 10 grapes, 5 strawberries, 1 small banana, carrots, sprouts, turnip, parsnip, cabbage further out same with salad as it can be stringy and cause problems in the early days also sweet corn is a no go for quite a while it causes wind and can get stuck easily.
Around 2 litres of water more if possible.

That was my basic menu frame to work from. I know it was over 2 years ago now but things don't change that much may just give you something to aim for. I can eat almost everything now just keep it all on my small plate that keeps me in check. Hope that's of use to some one. I have to admit since my op I try and have this frame work still and I have only really suffered with wind/bowel colic from time to time apart from that I have had very little in the way of colds/flu have had flu jabs the last 3 years also. I take all my vitamins and have regular B12 JABS SO STICK WITH IT ALL IT DOES WORK OUT FOR THE BEST XXX

Thnik this is a great post, well done and I hope I can do as well........ so worried at the moment!

Thanks Chrisa xx. I can't swallow at the mo (swollen tonsils) so I'm struggling with both liquids and soft foods. Hopefully will improve in the next few days, have had flu since Tuesday last week :(

I had my 9 month (though I'm nearly 11 months out now) follow up at St Richards today. As it turns out, its my last one. They say I've done really well (i.e over 65% EWL loss within a year), and they dont think that I need them to see me. I dont think its a full discharge, as she said that I have any problems to ring them, but it has come rather quickly. I feel a mix of relief and abandonment!

Trying out a fasting day today, having 600 kcals. Its quite reassuring to feel hunger, but not sure its for me. I think I will give it a month and see how I go.

B: Glass of Milk.
L: Protein Shake,
S; Yoghurt.
D: Chicken, bacon and mushrooms in a white sauce.

3 litres of water.

Good luck!

Why are you fasting may I ask is it religious purposes or are you just seeing what hunger is like? Yes it is strange when they don't want to see you I saw them twice after my op over the 2 years. It felt very final for me as I have had very little after care but knew if I needed it I could ring. I thought when I 1st started out that they said I would need life time care/checkups. But I must have been wrong.

Menu today

B melon, mini donut ( I know not healthy but fancied it not fancying much at the mo, some things I make then just can't bring my self to eat them. have allday to work it off like
s pom bears
L BROWN BREAD TOASTED WITH TABLESPOON BEANS
D BEEF STEW AND SMALL DUMPLING.

LOTS OF TEA

Probably have something later on with a cuppa tea xx

Neither, haha. I've read a few interesting things about the health benefits of the 5:2 diet, I dont think its 100% suitable for us post op. But my best friend is doing it, so I said I would do a version of it to support her, and to try and kick start some weight loss for 2014. I dont think is sustainable long term, but its an experiment really.

Fwiw I am going to be trying the milk diet 2 days and sw 4 days to try and keep the losses moving.
