You know you dont really fancy the guy u have Friday night date with when your spin Instructor tells you you're ready for the next difficulty level class and you want to do that instead .. ..

I think it's all about our minds being in the right place for what we want to do, which means the other person needs to be in the same place...

At the present, your mind is in the "get fitter" place and the Friday night Guy is in the "get the fit one" place. So near, but so far...

Seriously, though, I understand not wanting to be distracted whilst on this part of the WLS journey - it can be hard enough doing it for yourself, let alone trying to fit in another person.

Best of luck with what ever you decide to do on Friday, spin or head over heals.

Well I've decided that turning 32 today means I'm finally old enough to learn to drive and just applied for my provisional license. I never would have considered it before the surgery as was just too nervous about it plus worried about doing up safety belts and getting behind the wheel. Still very nervous but as soon as it's here I will book my first lesson. When I've passed my test it will mean I can regularly get to swimming and gym without relying on other people plus see friends more often :)

Menu plan for today -

Breakfast - Blackberries
Lunch - half a small jacket potato with lf cottage cheese
Dinner - 70g's of fillet steak with veggies done in reduced salt soy sauce.
Snack - 2 ryvitas with pickle onions. A small ice lolly.

689 cals. 55g carbs 44g protein.

Omg your life will change (even more) when you pass your test, you'll be out and about all I over the place. Happy birthday for today by the way, I know you part'yed at the weekend but do you have anything nice planned for later???

Happy birthday, hope you have a great day!
Good for you, I want to learn to drive too and with my new found confidence I think I'll apply for my license.
Its silly really but I've always found a million excuses why I haven't learned to drive...but it's definitely one of my big goals now :D
Good luck!
Em xxxx

Thank you Em, I completely understand where you are coming from. The thought of it has always terrified me but I moved away from my friends 6 months ago, there are only 40 mins away by car but me not being able to drive means we see each other so much less than before plus in general it would just make life better. Time to bite the bullet and get it over with. So we will have to cheer each other on, I'm sure you will feel ready to start soon too.
Thanks again :D xxx

I tested my urine this morning with a ketostix that I had left over from my pre op milk diet, and it went dark pink, so looks like I am still in ketosis.. Not sure though if that is a good thing now or a bad thing, so long after the pre op diet being over??

If I remember from my lighter life days Amanda, being in ketosis means that your body is burning fat instead of it being stored in your liver, that's a good thing isn't it??

well yes sarah I suppose it is.. And although no weight loss last week, I have gone down from a size 24 at the start of my pre op, to a size 18 now, so inches are coming off.... Never thought I would ever see a size 18 again must admit. I actually cried when tried my 18 work trousers on and they actually fitted!! how sad is that!!

That's blooming amazing Amanda, in just 6 weeks!! I've gone from a 32/34 to a 28 so I was happy with that. Well done you, I guess it's not all about the scales.
X

Thanks Amanda. That is brilliant news about your trousers, always remember when the scales are being annoying the tape measure is usually your friends. Start taking your measurements once a month and you won't be sorry, I love doing it. I think I'll cry when I'm in a pair 18's too :D Well done.

As for ketosis I'm not sure if it's good for the body to be in it all the time but I don't think there is much choice in the early days, we eat low carb low calorie diets so we are bound to go into it. I know I have days I definitely go back into as my mouth starts feeling furry and I know my breath smells, this always coincides with a complete loss of appetite but it does burn fat as Sarah says so it's not all bad.

That's fantastic too Sarah. It definitely isn't just about the scales :)

I've attached a pic of my new shoes that come today. Haven't brought a new pair of heals in ages because my feet were just to wide for a while to be comfortable in them. They aren't quite a bright as in the picture but they are for my holiday :D (edited to add I realise I put my shoes on the table! but it was the garden table and they hadn't be worn yet. Whoops)

They are gorgeous Shelly, I love a wedge, and everything in my world is pink, so the colour is fabulous. When/where is your holiday?? We go to Sharm El sheik on Monday, cannot wait. Xxx

Love the shoes shelleymarie!! Gee all you guys getting ready for your holidays, and I am just getting myself into the going back to work mentality lol!!! And you are so right sarah!! it definitely isnt all about the scales, its also about how you feel in yourself, and the inches disappearing slowly but surely. And sarah that is brilliant to have dropped 3 sizes so quickly you should be really proud of yourself.
I think you are right about long term ketosis not being good for the body shellymarie, everything I have read on the internet, says that long term its not the healthiest way to lose weight. I just don't seem to have any room for the carbohydrates that keep you out of ketosis after I have managed my protein, but hopefully that will get better as time goes by!! But Hey!! I'm not averse to a little fat burning at the moment lol!! xxx

Happy birthday shelley, hope uv had a great day! Great news about ur trousers Amanda, I bet they will soon be hanging off you and Sarah I bet ur buzzin dropping a few dress sizes. Well done ladies.
My mouth is still really sore but taking double anti- biotics so hopefully the pain will go away soon but not looking forward to getting tooth out :-(
Lol chrisa I'll see you at costa!!!!!!!!
Well I was going to have a good day today food wise but Iv only had a couple of chicken goujons, not good enough I know, not had much fluid either. Tomorrow I will try again! xxx

If you can't manage a lot to eat at the moment with your tooth and everything dimond, then maybe you should try a meal replacement drink, or a protein shake or something similar to try and keep your strength up a little. Hope your mouth feels a bit better tomorrow xxx

Thanks Amanda xxx
